- Grant Whittington

Sports betting and iGaming titan Betway has nabbed what could very well be its biggest tennis sponsorship yet. The premium sports and tennis betting brand announced this week that it has been named sponsor of The Rio Open for 2022 through 2023.

The alliance with the event will see Betway enjoy association privileges as well as courtside branding rights. What’s more, content belonging to the betting and gaming brand will be incorporated into The Rio Open’s digital channels – including its social media presence. This will ensure innovative, engaging, and interactive content for tennis fans all over the world.

A Big Deal For Betway

Commenting on the excitement of the new deal this week had been Betway CEO, Anthony Werkman.

The sports betting giant chief-in-charge said it’s a proud moment to be adding Brazil’s only ATP Tour event to Betway’s booming tennis sponsorships portfolio. He said the brand is absolutely thrilled and delighted to be partnering with such a premium stop on the Tour.

Werkman furthermore commented on the top talent typically associated with the tournament. He said having such a close association with a talent-filled contest makes the tennis betting sponsorship partnership only that much more huge and proud a moment for Betway.

About The Rio Open

The Rio Open is indeed a proud and premium stop on the ATP Tour. Presented by Mexican telecom group Claro, the premium tennis event is played across eight clay courts at Jockey Club Brasileiro, which is a massive 6,200-seat stadium.

Since its inaugural edition back in 2014, The Rio Open has been won by some of the biggest names in the sport and in tennis betting. These have included multiple Grand Slam champion Rafa Nadal, Cristian Garin, and David Ferrer.

The Rio Open is South America’s only ATP Tour 500 event, and Brazil’s only ATP Tour stop.

Betway An Industry Leader

Marcia Casz, who is the Director of The Rio Open, is equally pleased with having Betway on board for the sponsorship of the premium event.

Commenting on the brand-powered alliance, Casz said Betway is regarded an industry leader amongst established and new online bookies, and that as such, it is a great privilege for The Rio Open to have the digital betting and gaming behemoth sponsoring and associated with the event.

Casz also commented on the fact that The Rio Open is the biggest tennis event in Latin America. He said the hope was for a long and lasting partnership with the Betway brand.

Betway has been closing an impressive number of sponsorship deals of late. Recent link-ups include deals with the Dallas Mavericks, the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Devils, and the Philadelphia Flyers.
