Motorsport Bookmakers Celebrate MotoGP Argentina Extension
27/10/21
After no races staged at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit in 2020 because of the global health crisis, plans for the current year were cancelled after a devastating fire burnt a large portion of the track's facilities to the ground. Organisers have however confirmed that the venue will be ready to accommodate MotoGP's return to the country in April next year.
OSD Committed To Quality
Commenting on the extended deal recently had been Orlando Terranova, who is the chief executive of local GP organising body OSD. Himself a Dakar competitor, Terranova said the OSD is committed to double its efforts in creating an outstanding MotoGP experience for motorsport bookmakers and fans when the action finally returns to the circuit next year.
Terranova also said MotoGP allows Argentina to play a leading role on elite sports' global stage. He said the renewal of the agreement with Dorna is a satisfying moment for everybody involved.
Also excited about the continuation is Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, who described the news of the extended deal as "fantastic". Ezpeleta said the return of the series to Argentina is crucial if its going to enjoy a successful and ongoing presence in South America. He also said the return of MotoGP to the local sports calendar and at new betting sites is once again proof of the massive level of interest in the sport across Latin America.
Honda Leads The Way
Argentina made its long-awaited return to the MotoGP annual calendar in 2014. This marked a return after a 15-year absence. Over the six years following the big return, Honda rider Marc Marquez has established himself as the most successful competitor in the event and a favourite with motorsport bookmakers.
Team Honda also happens to hold the record for the most wins tallied at Termas de Rio Hondo. The only other triumphant manufacturer at the circuit has been Yamaha. Their success came from 2015 and 2017 wins by Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales, respectively.
Next year's MotoGP championship will be only the third to host a total of 21 races. Set to open on March 6 at Qatar's Losail circuit, the action will then head for an all-new track at the Mandalika circuit in Indonesia, also due to make its debut next year is Finland.
The action will head for Argentina's Termas de Rio Hondo racetrack on April 3 and new betting sites are sure to offer great odds.
