New Bookmakers Horse Racing Fans Await Letruska’s Del Mar Debut
The star mare will head into the Distaff directly off a five-race winning streak. Her stunning list of achievements includes a phenomenal six graded stakes won out of seven starts across six tracks.
A Stunning Story So Far
But the journey to super-success hasn’t been easy or instant for Letruska. Before making her mark in the US, she launched her career first in Mexico City, where she worked hard for St. George Stables to claim her stake to six straight wins back home. New bookmakers horse racing fans took note of her then and have been watching her progress.
Her former stables belong to Larrea Mota-Velasco, who runs the biggest copper mining operation in Mexico.
Letruska eventually made her way over to the US at the end of 2019. This was shortly after Mota-Velasco made the call to transfer some of his horses across the border. Since setting foot on US soil, the star performer has managed to add 11 wins to her illustrious career record. She also claimed a second and a third out of a total of 16 starts.
But Letruska’s performance means incredible success not only for her owner, but also for her native country and new bookmakers horse racing enthusiasts. While commenting on the star mare’s journey last week, trainer Fausto Gutierrez said there’s a shift that can be seen in the quality of racing in Mexico right now.
And Letruska has been an important part of that winning culture.
While Mexico has traditionally struggled to find a balance especially when it comes to quality, Gutierrez said Letruska has shown herself to be a horse among horses, and new betting sites agree.
Del Mar The Right Decision
While Gutierrez certainly could have opted to enter Letruska in several more divisions, he said he believes sticking to the Distaff is the right decision for her right now.
Gutierrez added that while expecting Letruska to have her name mentioned in Horse of the Year conversations might be a tall order to fill, when considering everything she’s achieved this year so far, it might not be all that far-fetched after all.
With four Grade 1 wins behind her name, Gutierrez said it would be unfair to be asking for more.
The championship-winning mare will be making her debut appearance in Del Mar on the weekend and new betting sites odds are the ones to watch.
