- Grant Whittington

After winning the group in South America’s most prestigious horse racing competition, the Gran Premio Latinoamericano, Uruguayan racehorse Aero Trem has been shipped off to Dubai to compete in the Saudi Cup in February of 2022, where a purse of $20 million is up for grabs. New online bookies are watching his progress closely, as they may be on to a winner.

The 6-year-old horse has had a tumultuous career, having a brush with death when struck with a bout of colic directly after winning Uruguay’s Triple Crown back in 2019. Trem has since developed into a winning machine and is currently South America’s strongest competing racehorse.

Preparation Underway

Trem’s ambitious trainers Antonio Cintra and Julio Olascoaga are currently overseeing preparation in Dubai and are keen to test the flier against the world’s top performers. Olascoaga stated that Trem arrived in Dubai in fantastic condition and has been training vigorously following an invitation to compete in 2022 the Saudi Cup. New bookmakers horse racing fans will be thrilled to hear this good news.

Cintra has a dream, a dream to get his horses competing in the world’s most important races and Trem’s invitation to the Saudi Cup means that the dream is now more within reach than ever before.

Cintra believes that competing in the Saudi Cup is not only important for Trem but for Uruguay and South America as a whole. “That’s even more important than the prize money. The money is important, but it is not everything”.

“When you compete against the best, it makes you better”. Cintra believes that the Saudi Cup is the perfect opportunity to showcase Trem’s talents on a global stage and make the flying beast a household name for horseracing enthusiasts.

Brazilian Jockey Takes The Reins

Vagner Leal, the Brazilian born jockey entrusted with bringing Trem’s talents to the fore recently arrived in Dubai to join in the Saudi Cup preparations. Leal flies the Brazilian flag when racing, signalling a South American connection between horse and jockey, uniting the region and new bookmakers horse racing sites under one competitor.

Fun fact: Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani owns multiple horses trained by Cintra and has a good relationship with the team. He has been keeping a close eye on Trem’s ascent to superstardom and will be rooting for Leal at the 2022 Saudi Cup.

Olascoaga claims that one-time Cavani came to Uruguay to play in a World Cup qualifier and straight after the match packed his bags, went to the airport and flew to watch the teams’ races.
