Fernández Valdés PGA Golf Dreams Come True

07/12/21

- Grant Whittington

The Open de Argentina saw respected golf player Fernández Valdés prove that he has what it takes to walk amongst the greatest in the world. He won the tournament, which ultimately means that he will be headed to the PGA Tour Championship and added to new online bookies lists. Though, this isn’t the only time he’s managed to make the cut. He did manage the same achievement once before, even if it was 6 years ago. Hence, some would say he is finally overcoming an extended absence.

His previous effort saw him play in the 2016 Puerto Rico open. He made a decent showing, but only managed to tie for 47th.  If he does better this time remains to be seen, but hopes will certainly be riding high.

It is, in particular, the 2022 Open Championship at the Old Course at Saint Andrews Golf Club that will see him play.

A Happy Moment

Clearly overcome with joy, Valdés shared some thoughts about winning the Open de Argentina. He first declared that he has no words to express his gratitude but continued by declaring that he has had the honor of playing at Saint Andrews twice before. He elaborated by stressing that he is proud to be representing his country and would certainly be doing his best to make everyone proud.

He then pointed out that in the world of golf, playing at Saint Andrews is akin to football players managing to play in the World Cup. Though, he added that he now knows the course well, which is knowledge that will give him an advantage in the coming tournament. This is something new online bookies are sure to keep an eye on.

He concluded by saying that the courses at Saint Andrews hold a special mystique, and that he is looking forward to experiencing that mystique again.

A Blossoming Career

This most recent victory means that Valdés now holds 4 PGA Tour Latin American titles. 3 of these have come courtesy of national opens, including the Mundo Maya in Mexico in 2013, a win in 2014 in Chile, and the most recent win at the Argentine open.

Overall, he has played in an incredible 169 golf tournaments related to the PGA Tour, which is certainly a number that speaks for itself. In more detail, that number consists of 93 entries into Latin American tournaments, 67 on the Korn Ferry Tour, 8 in Canada, on the 1 on the official PGA Tour Championship.

Wherever he goes from here, the world of professional golf will now be watching the talented Argentinian player closely, as will bettors who love wagering on the sport.
